Congratulations to TCL Sports Managing Director Mike Trees who has added his Age-Group World Sprint Triathlon title to the World Aquathlon title that he won last week in New Zealand!

The UK’s Paul Jennings was first out of the swim with Mike 40 seconds behind him in 4th place, but Mike had the fastest T1 time and was 30-seconds quicker than Jennings in the first transition. Mike finished the bike in 2nd place behind Australian Peter Bolton, just 35 seconds behind. Again he put in the quickest transition time and went on to finish the run in 1st place in 17:39, 20 seconds ahead of Australian Campbell Dawson to finish in 01:06:34 taking the title.

Well done Mike!

Sunday 1st April was the Reading Half Marathon and this year’s race once again saw the TCL Sports team out in force amongst the 16,000 runners who took part.

The Triathlon Show 2012 proved to be a great success for TCL Sports.  TCL sports had three stands; 2XU, Newton Running and GU, each of which proving to be a great success.

The show marked the launch on the 2012 2XU collection, and the launch of a new flavour of GU Energy Gels, Chocolate Mint.  Whilst on the Newton stand we had the busiest show to date which is testament to Newton’s increasing presence in the market.

To top it all off we also received for a second year in a row the 220 Run Shoe of the year award for the Newton Isaac.

This year as part of ‘Movember’ four of the TCL Sports team grew a ‘mo’ to raise awareness of men’s health.

Steve, John, Nick and Lander spent the month cultivating their moustaches in support of this annual event that aims to raise vital funds and awareness for men’s health, specifically prostate cancer and other cancers that affect men.

On Sunday 27th November Lander and Nick took part in the Battersea Park 5k ‘Mo Run’ and it was great to see other ‘Mo Bros’ and ‘Mo Sisters’ taking part in the event wearing 2XU and Newton Running shoes!

TCL Sports have spent the last 2 days at the Intersport show in Solihull, Birmingham. The show provides an excellent platform for the TCL sales team to talk to members about the full range of products that will be on offer for 2012.

At the show there has been lots of interest in the Newton MV2 racer. The whole barefoot concept is getting are lot of attention within the Intersport group, as lots of the mainstream brands have copied the natural running movement and are releasing their own “minimalist” style shoes at the show.

The 220 Triathlon Annual Awards saw a double win for TCL Sports distribution brands Newton Running and 2XU.

The prestigious event held during the annual TCR show at Sandown Park saw Newton Running receive the award for ‘Running Shoe of the Year’ for the Newton Sir Isaac Guidance Trainer. 2XU won the ‘Innovative Product of the Year’ award for the Project X:1 wetsuit.

Mike Trees, managing director of TCL Sports accepted both awards on behalf of the brands and was joined by Newton Running ambassador and seven times Adventure Racing World Champion Ian Adamson to collect the Running Shoe of the Year award for Newton Running. Ian paid tribute to Mike for his work in raising the profile of natural running and Newton Running in the UK.

In addition to the two awards for Newton Running and 2XU, TCL Sports sponsored athlete Sky Draper (who runs in Newton Running Shoes) won the Youth Triathlete award, our congratulations to Sky – well deserved recognition for an outstanding junior athlete.

TCR 2011 saw the launch of the 2XU Project X:2 wetsuit that builds upon the award winning X:1 with even more industry-leading features.

The TCL Sports staff got 2011 off to a good start as they proudly participated in the 26th annual Swimarathon in Maidenhead on Saturday 8th January.

The event, organised by the Lions Club of Maidenhead, attracted nearly 800 swimmers this year and TCL Sports entered two teams who swam 10km in just under 1 hour. This is a charity race that 8 people take turn every 50m and swim for 55 minutes!

TCL Sports donated £100 to Lions Club of Maidenhead and would like to say a big thank you to John and Lawrence for participating at last minute to substitute our team members taken ill.
